Disclosure: HivePayroll is our product, and it is one of the seven options below. We have tried to be fair: every competitor price comes from the vendor’s own pricing page, checked on 5 October 2026, and we say plainly where RazorpayX Payroll or another product is the better choice.

Why companies look for RazorpayX Payroll alternatives

RazorpayX Payroll is part of Razorpay’s business banking suite, and its product page says more than 10,000 companies use it. It does something most payroll software does not: it pays salaries and statutory dues on your behalf. Teams that look elsewhere usually have one of three reasons.

The entry price is high for a small team

The Prime plan is ₹3,499 a month on annual billing, or ₹3,999 on semi-annual billing, for up to 20 employees, plus 18% GST. No free plan is listed on the pricing page. A five-person company pays the same as a twenty-person one, and the price is several times what some alternatives charge for that headcount.

₹150 for every employee above the base

Prime supports a maximum of 20 employees. Elite is ₹6,499 a month on annual billing (₹6,999 semi-annual) for 50 employees and supports up to 100, with ₹150 per additional employee a month. At 100 employees that is ₹13,999 a month before GST. Above 100, the Enterprise plan is quoted on request.

Some modules sit in higher plans

On Prime, the pricing page marks customisable roles, NPS, multiple deductions, loan management, approval workflows, “Hold Salary, Pay Compliance”, resettlement and API and webhooks as unavailable, with the note “Module unavailable. Access it at an extra cost.” Custom expense rules, a dedicated account manager and on-demand custom reports are listed only on Enterprise. And if your finance team prefers to release salaries and challans itself from your existing bank, the automated payouts you pay for may go unused.

What 10 to 100 employees could cost

Published monthly prices, both billed yearly, excluding 18% GST. RazorpayX Prime supports up to 20 employees, so from 21 the Elite plan is used.

Headcount RazorpayX Payroll HivePayroll
10 ₹3,499 (Prime) ₹0 (Free) or ₹500
20 ₹3,499 (Prime) ₹1,000
50 ₹6,499 (Elite) ₹1,500
75 ₹10,249 (₹6,499 + 25 × ₹150) ₹2,500
100 ₹13,999 (₹6,499 + 50 × ₹150) ₹2,500

These are not like-for-like: RazorpayX Payroll pays salaries and statutory dues for you, which HivePayroll does not. Put a value on that work before comparing the totals.

When RazorpayX Payroll is still the better choice

Any comparison that says RazorpayX Payroll loses on everything is not worth reading. Based on Razorpay’s own payroll and pricing pages, it is the stronger pick when:

Payouts
You want salaries paid from the payroll toolDirect salary payment is in every plan, and Razorpay says it deposits salaries directly into the bank accounts of employees, freelancers and contractors. Reimbursements can be approved and paid on the go rather than with the next salary.
Compliance
You want statutory dues paid and filed for youEvery plan includes compliance calculation, payments and filings. Razorpay says it files and pays your TDS, PF, PT and ESIC and keeps the challans on your dashboard, with digitally signed Form 16.
Contractors
You pay many contractorsContractor payments and contractor filings are in every plan; Razorpay says it files and pays the associated TDS.
Banking
You already use RazorpayX for bankingPayroll sits in the same suite as RazorpayX current accounts, payouts, tax payments and corporate cards.
Benefits
You want benefits and integrations around payrollRazorpay lists 45+ integration partners across HRMS, attendance, flexible benefits and insurance, health insurance through Plum, earned salary access through Jify, background checks through SpringVerify, ITR filing for employees, and payslips on WhatsApp and Slack.

How to choose a RazorpayX Payroll alternative

  1. Decide who moves the money. If you want the payroll tool to pay salaries and challans, shortlist products that do, such as Zoho Payroll’s partner-bank payments, or stay. If your accountant or finance team pays from your own bank, a tool that prepares the bank file and returns is enough.
  2. Price at next year’s headcount. Base fees that include 20, 25 or 50 employees and per-employee charges above them change the ranking as you grow.
  3. Check what the quoted price includes. GST, implementation fees, extra companies and modules marked as add-ons all change the total. Ask each vendor in writing.
  4. Test your hardest rule in the demo. A mid-year joiner’s pro-rated leave or a full and final settlement shows more than a standard monthly run.
  5. Time the switch. April is the clean cut-over. Mid-year, carry year-to-date earnings and TDS across so Form 16 and the quarterly TDS returns reconcile.
