Why teams on BambooHR add a separate India payroll
BambooHR is an HR system: employee records, onboarding, time off and reporting. Payroll in India is a different job. It needs PF and ESI contributions, state-wise professional tax, TDS under the new tax regime, Form 24Q and Form 16 (Form 130 under the Income-tax Act, 2025), and filings in the right format. If your BambooHR plan does not cover these for India, you need a payroll system that does. Check your plan with BambooHR before assuming either way.
How to move your employees from BambooHR to HivePayroll
- Export your employees from BambooHR. In Reports, build a custom report with the fields you need, select the employees, then use Export and choose CSV or Excel. Save it as a reusable report so you can re-run it each month. Menu names can vary by BambooHR plan.
- Sign up free at setup.hivepayroll.in/signup. No credit card.
- Open Bulk Upload in HivePayroll. Pick the employee columns you need and download the template it generates. Dropdown columns such as department, designation and location take names, not codes.
- Copy your BambooHR columns into the template using the table below. Set the Action column to New for each employee.
- Add the India payroll fields BambooHR may not hold: PAN, UAN, PF and ESIC applicability, bank account and IFSC, tax regime, and salary structure or CTC. Collect these from your HR records or from employees.
- Upload, review and run a parallel month. Compare HivePayroll’s salary and statutory numbers with your previous process before you switch over.
